Trip to Slovenia

I went on a trip to Slovenia for three days. It’s always interesting to visit a foreign country. This is special to me because I have friends there.

After 10 months staying in Manchester, I have some friends here but I don’t have friends who I see every day. During my stay in Slovenia, my friends were with me every day and it was very special.

My flight was early in the morning from Gatwick airport in London. To avoid any unexpected trouble, I stayed near Gatwick airport one day before my departure. My flight was on time and everything started very smoothly.

My friend, Jana, picked me up at the airport and took me to the accommodation. It wasn’t a hotel, but it was a furnished apartment for a short stay. It was a nice and big enough place. Actually, it was bigger than my current apartment in Manchester.

I started sightseeing. It seemed there was some event there.

From a Japanese point of view, they looked like university students, but one of them spoke to me and I knew they were high school students. Each of the exhibition stall was from different high schools and they express how important forests are for the environment.

I’m sorry but I didn’t speak any Slovenian language, but many people spoke English and I enjoyed shopping as well. People were also very kind. I had no complaints about customer service in this country.

On the second day, Jana and Jan took me to a market with their kids. At the market they sold a variety of items like organic vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and so on. I thought I couldn’t bring fresh food to England, so I bought wine, jam, bread and dried fruits.

I expected feeling the spring in Slovenia because it’s more southern than England. I love nature, so Jana took me to a beautiful park.

It’s a perfect season for flowers. I really was refreshed there. Surprisingly, I saw 1/25 model of Osaka castle there. It’s impressive to see Osaka castle in Slovenia.

All my friends recommend me to visit a cave in Slovenia. So I asked Jana to take me to the cave. It was actually a sunny day, so Jana and Jan recommended me to go to Bled. It’s a beautiful view place. The cave was located in the south and Bled is located in the north. I should have decided about one of them. I really wanted to stay there more. Amazingly, Jana and Jan arranged to take me to both places in a day. It’s wonderful. The cave was beyond my imagination. I had been to a cave in Japan, but Slovenian one is very huge. First I got on a train and moved inside the cave so fast. After getting inside, there were several guidance walks. I joined the English guidance and saw many Japanese tourists. They were busy taking photos and I didn’t even talk with them. Even during vacation, Japanese looked busy.

After this impressive cave, I enjoyed the beautiful nature in Slovenia.

I enjoyed being with my friends the most and talking with people, seeing beautiful sights and having delicious foods.

I’d been depressed for a month. The weather or bad communication at my working place could be the reason. I didn’t have anything to describe but now I’m happy to start writing again.
